LEGO 71012 Disney Minifigures Series 1

We know, we know, it’s been a while. Sorry. But oh what a week for LEGO Minifigure collectors! Even more so for LEGO and DISNEY collectors! We’ve had a sneak peak at not only one but two LEGO minifigure collectable series’!

The first one was a first look at the LEGO Disney Minifigures series. It seems only predictable that this will be the first of a few LEGO Disney Minifigures series’ over the coming years, but the first instalment does bring us some very exciting characters – and elements, for that matter! Let’s look a bit closer…

Starting from left to right, the list of characters featured on the box cover are as follows:

  • Maleficent – from her self titled film (and/or Sleeping Beauty).
  • Cheshire Cat – 1 of 2 from Alice in Wonderland in this series
  • Alice – 2 of 2 from Alice in Wonderland in this series
  • Mr. Incredible – 1 of 2 from The Incredibles in this series
  • Syndrome – 2 of 2 from The Incredibles in this series
  • Alien – 1 of 2 from Toy Story in this series
  • Buzz Lightyear – 2 of 2 from Toy Story in this series
  • Minnie Mouse – 1 of 4 Classic Disney Characters in this series
  • Donald Duck – 2 of 4 Classic Disney Characters in this series
  • Mickey Mouse – 3 of 4 Classic Disney Characters in this series
  • Daisy Duck – 4 of 4 Classic Disney Characters in this series
  • Peter Pan – 1 of 2 from Peter Pan in this series
  • Captain Hook – 2 of 2 from Toy Story in this series
  • Genie – 1 of 2 from Aladdin in this series
  • Aladdin – 2 of 2 from Toy Story in this series
  • Ursula – 1 of 2 from The Little Mermaid in this series
  • Stitch – The only one from Lilo and Stitch in this series
  • Ariel – 2 of 2 from The Little Mermaid in this series

There are some really cool parts in this one. It’s funny to see the LEGO Minifigure version of Ariel (instead of the annoying LEGO Minidoll in the LEGO Friends style build). It’s also interesting to see the LEGO Buzz Lightyear with classic LEGO head, instead of his moulded original release with the Toy Story sets a few years back.

There are some very cool parts in this series, not least LEGO Syndrome’s hair and LEGO Mr Incredible’s comic. Although the first shots that we are looking at don’t show much else by the way of accessories – which is actually quite exciting – I think. It will be a bit of a disappointment if some of these LEGO Disney Characters come without accessories. But based on previous sets, we’re thinking there will be some cool parts.

There are some obvious characters we’d have liked to have seen here, something from the Lion King or Frozen would have probably gone down a treat, but then I imagine both LEGO and Disney have plenty more of these series planned and ready for release over the coming years…
